One day during the normal morning walk my brother and I found a blue coloured egg near the river. Actually, I was interested in the colour more. From the knowledge from observing birds, I was able to identify it as a babbler egg. The egg has few cracks on it. We were not sure about any egg hating techniques, by a little internet surfing we were able to find that we could seal the cracks using candle wax. We decided to give it a try. My brother sister and I were so interested in the egg and we even missed breakfast in the curiosity. We identified a wooden box which could serve our purpose. We somehow managed to get an incandescent lamb and we made our first-ever DIY egg hatcher. All were pumped up. We did seal the cracks and started our incubation. Initial days showed no results, over time there was the development of some reddish marks and we were like sick. Our expectation went high and I even studied the feeding habits of babblers. There were some changes until 9th day by 15th day the egg was getting a complete dark colour. I couldn't see any sign of life from it. We had to take a hard decision to stop our process. I opened the egg and I was able to find a dead embryo in its gastrulation. Our hatching did work but the cracks invited bacteria and the contamination killed our little bird. This was a great experience for my entire lifetime. The process gave several insights about the methods and habitat and habit of the bird species.
